The annual 8 ball tournament will be held during the months of June and July and is OPEN TO ALL Great Island residents. This tournament will determine the 2024 Great Island Clubhouse 8 Ball Champion and the winner will have their name engraved on the plaque, which is located on the wall in the clubhouse billiards room. 

This tournament will also be used as one of the means to determine the team to compete against Southport in the fall. The top 12 finishers will be eligible to be part of the Great Island team playing against Southport. Also, the final results of the seeding positions will be used to determine the teams for the 8 ball Doubles tournament to be held later this year.
 
The format for this tournament will be a 2 out 3 match and each individual player signing up, will play a match against all others that sign up. You must record the outcome of each match of each player if it’s a 2-1 win, a 2-0 win, or 0-2 loss or a 1-2 loss.

The top eight players will move on to a playoff with number 1 seed playing number 8 seed, and number 2 seed playing number 7 seed, etc. All matches are 2 out of 3 including the championship match.

If in the event of a tie for any seeded position, the head-to-head record will be used as a tie breaker. If there are more than two tied for any seed, the overall won/lost record will be used as a tie breaker.

There is a sign-up sheet located in the Bins adjacent to the Billiards Room. Also, there is a list of rules attached to the sign-up sheet.
